Piriyadha Varam Vendum: A Tamil Romantic Comedy Film
Piriyadha Varam Vendum (English: Want a boon to not separate) is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Kamal. It is the Tamil remake of his 1999 Malayalam film Niram. The movie stars Prashanth and Shalini in the lead roles, while an ensemble cast featuring Manivannan and Janagaraj among others play supporting roles. Featuring music by S. A. Rajkumar, the film was produced by Metro films Pvt.ltd and released on 16 February 2001.

Plot
The film revolves around the friendship between Sanjay (Prashanth) and Nithi (Shalini), who have been friends since childhood. Sanjay is in love with Nithi, but he does not express his feelings to her, fearing that it might ruin their friendship. Nithi is engaged to Ramesh (Raghuvaran), a rich businessman, who is chosen by her parents. Sanjay tries to hide his jealousy and support Nithi's decision, but he is unable to bear the pain of losing her. He decides to confess his love to her on the day of her wedding, but fate has other plans for them.

Reception
The film was a commercial success at the box office, grossing over 15 crore worldwide. It was also critically acclaimed for its screenplay, direction, performances and music. The film won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards: Best Film (Third Prize) and Best Music Director for S. A. Rajkumar. The film was also remade in Telugu as Manasanta Nuvve (2001) and in Kannada as Ninagoskara (2002).
